Welcome to Eu-Le.eu,
the European educational network
The European Educational Network is a collection of groups which actively promote free learning and the right of parents to support and accompany their free learning children in pursuit of education.
This web-site serves to present the plurality of free-learning groups and projects throughout Europe in addition to providing a context for exchange and support among groups and individuals practicing free learning. These activities are promoted through international meetings as well as projects.
Because we learn constantly both from and throughout our lives individuals of every age group are active in the network. Our goal is to support the development of independent, responsible and fulfilled. As social beings in this unique world we seek to consider and accommodate the needs and interests of both the environment and our fellow human beings. For this reason education about and awareness of sustainable development is an important focus for many of our activities. Some participants in the network have long been active in this area.
Basic Principles
Central values of the network are to maintain respect for the human dignity of each individual and to promote and support the free development of each participant. It is therefore essential that the basic needs of participants are met and that an atmosphere of mutual respect and basic good intention characterize our shared context. Because humans are dependent for their development on relationships to others, children and youths need reliable, bonded relationships to adults who assume responsibility for their development in a respectful and open manner while allowing them to direct their own development.
Families are the original and natural context into which children are born, and it is from there which they begin their gradual journey into relationship with the world at large. The tempo of this development is best determined by the child him/herself.
Learning happens in and through living and its essential condition is freedom. Life-long learning is an engaging and joyful activity. This process requires the possibility of exploring the environment, researching and attempting a wide variety of activities, having the opportunity to experience others practicing their occupations, and experiencing oneself as a part of a larger context.
Individual exploration and research are further enhanced by opportunities to learn with and from others.
Our goals are to develop and support:
- a culture of life-long learning which fosters responsibility for oneself , one’s fellow humans, and the environment in individually chosen social contexts.
- free and natural learning.
- contact and exchange between a variety of groups and projects which support one another.
- the use and networking of existing resources.
- the use and networking of existing educational sites and resources as well as the creation of new ones.
- the use and networking of a diverse landscape of educational locations and possibilities as well as new such resources.
- illustrations of how free learning takes place and the multiplicity of self-organized learning which already exists.
Participation
Participation is open to any group which identifies with our basic principles and goals. To get started you need only send us a brief description of your group after which you will receive access to an area in which you can place an introduction and add additional entries about subsequent projects. Individual groups open access to the forum for their individual members.
Individuals may participate in activities which are posted by groups or offered by the network. To gain access to the forum, request an invitation from any individual group.
